Our September Member Spotlight is @LUTFY.MOHAMED!

Where are you from?

I’m from Egypt, a country I’m proud to call home, with an incredible mix of history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. One of the things I love most about Egypt is the Red Sea. I’ve always had a special connection with the sea; a fun fact my family often tells me is that one of the very first words I said was “sea,” so I guess that connection started very early! The photo I’m sharing was taken by the Red Sea, which makes it especially meaningful to me.

Why are you part of the Populii community and why do you do gig work?

It has always been technology that I am really interested in, mainly artificial intelligence and how intelligent systems are created, evaluated, and improved. With time, I have continued building my expertise by taking additional training courses in Machine Learning Engineering, acquiring practical skills in NLP, LLM evaluation, AI quality, and conversational AI, and getting industry-recognized certification from companies such as Huawei. My interest in technologies was what brought me to Populii in the first place; however, it was not the sole factor in my decision to stay at the company for so long. Populii allowed me to interact with various people, share my knowledge with others, face interesting challenges, help other people, and grow as a professional as well as an individual. Gradually, I have grown a feeling of belonging to this community. This is one of the reasons why I really like working as a freelancer, each project may bring a new challenge or give an opportunity to learn something new. Such an environment encourages people to be curious and adaptable. For me, Populii became not only a place where I complete my projects but also a community where I feel as if I belong and where people treat each other as a family.

What are you most proud of (either professional or personal)?

Professionally, I’m most proud of the trust and responsibilities I’ve been able to build over time through consistency, learning, and contributing wherever I could add value. I’ve had the opportunity to support and coordinate team members, help clarify complex project guidelines, contribute ideas, and design and deliver training sessions for both Arabic-speaking members and the wider Populii community in English. Creating learning experiences that help others better understand their work has been particularly meaningful to me. Seeing someone become more confident, improve their performance, or move forward because of something I helped explain or build is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. I’m also very grateful to Jessie, Radha, Jaya, and everyone behind Populii who continues to work on improving the platform and supporting the community. A lot of what makes a community valuable comes from the people working behind the scenes, and I truly appreciate the trust, support, and opportunities I’ve received along the way.

What advice do you have to share with other freelancers?

My advice is to never look at a task as “just a task.” Try to understand the bigger picture. Learn why something is being done, not only how to complete it. Stay curious, ask questions, keep developing your skills, and take every opportunity to learn something that can make you better at what you do. Be reliable and consistent. Communicate clearly, take feedback seriously, and don’t be afraid to share an idea when you genuinely believe it can improve something. At the same time, be willing to help others and share what you know, someone else’s success does not take anything away from your own.

We hope showcasing stories like Lutfy’s inspires you to continue growing your journey on Populii too! Want to be featured in a future Member Spotlight? Stay active, share your insights and keep showing up.

Thanks for sharing this. Some Arabic team members are facing a similar issue with verification because of the language mismatch. The team is aware and currently working on a solution.

Congratulations, @LUTFY.MOHAMED! :tada: Nice suit!!

Very well-deserved recognition. I really liked your advice about not looking at a task as “just a task” but trying to understand the bigger picture. That’s a mindset that helps people grow both professionally and personally.

I also admire how you’ve combined your passion for AI and technology with helping others through training and knowledge sharing. The strongest communities are built by people who are willing to learn and then help others learn too.

Wishing you continued success, and thanks for being such a positive contributor to the Populii community!
